To Be Offside – Top 5 Leagues Players

Players most likely to be caught offside in the next match based on their offside frequency and the offside tendencies of the opponent.

How the ranking is calculated

Players are ranked using a weighted score that combines individual attacking movement behaviour with how often the upcoming opponent forces offsides. To ensure fair comparisons, only players above a minimum playing-time threshold are included and every metric is converted into a percentile score within the dataset.

  • Player offside profile (65%) focuses primarily on how often a player is caught offside per ninety minutes. It also includes indicators linked to running beyond defensive lines such as progressive passes received, shooting involvement, non-penalty expected goals and touches in the attacking third.
  • Opponent offside pressure profile (35%) reflects how likely the opponent is to catch attackers offside. It is driven by how often their opponents are caught offside per ninety minutes and supported by indicators that typically create offside situations, such as through balls allowed and final-third involvement allowed.

The final score combines sixty-five percent of the player offside profile with thirty-five percent of the opponent offside pressure profile. Players are ranked according to this score for the upcoming fixture and its specific opponent.
